Quick answer: A chiropractic adjustment is a specific, controlled force applied to a spinal joint to restore proper movement and alignment. At the joint level, it releases restriction and improves mobility. At the muscle level, it reduces the tension and guarding that builds around a restricted joint. At the nervous system level, it removes interference that affects how signals travel between the brain and the body. The pop — when it occurs — is simply the release of gas from the joint fluid and is not the adjustment itself.
